Migrants Labour Insertion in Multicultural Agricultural Teams

More information about the project

What is the background?

European countries – and especially France, Spain, Italy, Austria and Greece – receive significant migrant flows, and agriculture plays a crucial role in their economies. Despite being ideal locations for integration, many migrants in rural and agricultural areas face extreme vulnerability and exploitation. Labour rights violations, lack of social protection, and exposure to violence are the main issues affecting them, particularly women.

MILIMAT addresses the need to provide small and medium farms with training in communication and management of multicultural teams, and to offer migrant workers knowledge about their rights to achieve greater social integration.

Expected results

Report on the possibilities of integrating migrant workers into rural communities through agriculture as an economic and social development resource. The report will consist of a Workshop Summary, five National Reports, and a Transnational Analysis Report.

Best Practices Manual for integrating migrant workers into rural communities through socially sustainable agriculture. This manual will include case studies.

Training modules and introductory videos on building, participating in, and managing multicultural teams in the agricultural sector, as well as on migration, labour, and values.

A training and collaborative platform based on the « MILIMAT Code of Good Conduct ».
